Zari Hassan has now requested to be called by her husband’s surname as a sign of respect for her marriage.
The Ugandan socialite got married to Shakib Cham Lutaaya in a low-key private wedding in April 2023.
The wedding was conducted in accordance with Muslim rites and was only attended by a handful of people.
Videos that captured the wedding show Zari and Shakib getting married in what appears to be a sitting room.
Zari has now asked her fans to refer to her by her husband’s surname following her wedding.
The mother of five took to social media to announce that she is now Mrs Lutaaya.
Zari was previously accused of ‘stealing’ Shakib from his wife.
Shamirah Nalule Sembatya (Mimi), a Ugandan lady based in the US, accused Zari of eloping with Shakib.
While placing a document supporting her claim, Mimi said she had been legally married to Shakib since June 2016 and they had not divorced.
