YY Offers To Build House For Man Who Sold His House's Iron Sheet To Pay Hospital Bill

Comedian YY felt pity for Kakamega man who was forced to sell his house’s iron sheet to pay hospital bill for his son who is battling chronic condition.

Willy Odhiambo was forced to sell his house’s iron sheets to pay Ksh10,000 bill for his son who was admitted to the Butere sub-county hospital.

Odhiambo unsuccessfully tried to borrow money from relatives and friends to clear the bill, he was left with no option but to sell his own house roofing.

“My child got sick and we took him to the hospital and we were later told that the bill had summed up to Ksh10,000. I was stranded, not knowing where to get such an amount of money. I tried talking to my relatives and friends, but they were also not in a position to help me. I decided to sell the iron sheets, some at Ksh800 while others at Ksh700, so that I can raise the money,” he told TV47.

After removing the iron sheets from the roof, Odhiambo replaced them with paper bags.

“Usiku mimi huwa sina imani kwa sababu nikifungua macho ni kama nimelala nje na mtu anweza akatuvamia wakati wowote,” he said.

Odhiambo, who relies on menial jobs to support his wife and four children, said his son is suffering from sickle cell anaemia.

He noted that the sickly son has been in and out of the hospital because of the chronic condition, draining his finances in the process.

Comedian YY was touched by Odhiambo’s plight and he ultimately offered to build him a decent house.

YY took to social media to announce his decision as he called on brands he has worked with to support him in his quest to build Odhiambo a house.

“Oh God!…just seeing this now?….how can I reach this family please….I would wish to build them a house as soon as possible?? My clients mko wapi mnisindikize… Taifa Mabati Mills Ltd,
Dagma Land Investment Limited, Redleaf, OdiBets, RFH Healthcare, Premier Food – Peptang, Dinga World Ltd,” YY wrote.
