Last Sunday, Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga was awarded an honorary title of Canon by the Anglican Church of Kenya South Nyanza Diocese in Homa Bay.
Mama Ida was accompanied by her family and political allies including Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga.
Her last born Winnie Odinga was also present ate the event and she celebrated her for the honour.
“This past Sunday, my Mother was ordained an honorary Canon of the Anglican Church. As I stood behind her, in the piercing Homabay sun ☀️,I thought about many things. As the Bishop read the citations for over an hour I realized two things,” the EALA MP said.
One of the things she realized was that her mother has always accepted who she is and believed in her.
” My mother has always accepted me for who I am & what I believe, and as a kid, you also have to accept your parents for who they are. Heck, you have to meet, accept & respect everyone exactly as they are.
“Secondly, She was now going to be called H.E. Dr. Canon (Stall of St.Teresa of Calcutta) Ida Betty Anyango Oyoo Odinga, all because of her service/sacrifice & now I have to work even harder. I couldn’t be prouder Mom,” Winnie said.
