For a second time in a month, Eric Omondi has already been arrested as he was trying to give out flour to his followers at City Stadium.
He promised to give out packets of Unga to anyone and everyone who would accompany him to the State House, for high cost of living protests.
“This Wednesday we meet at City Stadium from 11am to 2pm as we share a packet of Unga with everyone that intends to join us to State house. We are calling upon well wishers to donate Unga (DO NOT GIVE MONEY, JUST UNGA) If you want to donate a packet or more please Contact 0718891427 or bring the unga to City Stadium on Wednesday,” he announced.
The comedian had previously said that he will lead a march on Tuesday, March 7, from Uhuru Park to the State House to hand out resumes, unpaid rent and school fees, shopping lists for essentials, and utility bills.
Omondi was arrested and taken to Industrial Area Police station quick and fast.
He has spoken out about the financial difficulties Kenyans face, and on Wednesday, police officers stopped him as he tried to distribute bags of unga to his fans at City Stadium.
Omondi claimed he was trying to help his followers who couldn’t afford items like wheat, sugar, and cooking oil.
He insisted that he had spent his own money to buy flour and that he was giving it to his loyal fans.
“Wakenya wenzetu hawana unga. Ni unga tu nilikuwa napeana,” Omondi said his arrest.
With Raila Odinga giving his demands, looks like President Ruto will not tolerate any plans that are geared towards giving his administration problems.
With his next protest scheduled to happen at State House, this arrest could be a warning to Eric to know that he will be dealt with if he goes on with his shenanigans which might spiral out or be viewed as sponsored protests. What do you think?
