Renowned Ugandan comedienne Anne Kansiime recently made a surprising revelation about her past relationship, disclosing that she personally paid her own bride price.

Kansiime was previously married to Gerald Ojok – a native of the Luo-speaking Acholi tribe in northern Uganda.

The two exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony held in October 2013.

Their marriage however didn’t stand the test of time.

The Ugandan comedienne in November 2017 publicly announced that her marriage to Ojok had hit rock bottom.

In a candid interview in March 2025, Kansiime opened up about paying her own dowry after Ojok failed to do so.

The mother of one explained that she took this unconventional step due to constant reminders from her father and her own financial stability at the time.

Frustrated by repeated discussions about the dowry, she decided to settle it herself to end the ongoing conversation.

“I was tired of my father asking me to remind the man I was with, and at that point, I was making a lot of money. I felt like I could give dad this money so that we stop talking about it,” Kansiime shared.

She initially expected Ojok to reimburse her but eventually stopped following up on the matter.

“Then I kept telling this guy to pay, and when he pays, he gives it to me. Somehow, after paying, I stopped pestering, and we never brought it up again,” she revealed.

Despite the eventual breakup, Kansiime holds no regrets about her past choices, viewing them as part of her life’s journey.

“I don’t think I regret nearly any of the things that have happened to me before because it’s because of them I am here now,” she reflected.

Additionally, Kansiime disclosed her preference when it comes to dating, admitting that she does not like short men.

She explained that since she is short herself, it feels unfair for her to date someone of similar height.

Furthermore, she opened up about the final years of her relationship with musician Skylanta, revealing that their connection had lost its spark.

According to her, the romance was not as strong as when they first got together, leading to a gradual decline in their relationship.

Kansiime had earlier clarified that she and her child’s father Skylanta had not been in a romantic relationship for the past three years.

“You guys, the father of my child and I didn’t have a romantic relationship three years ago, and it’s still not happening now,” Kansiime revealed during her interview with NRG Radio Uganda.

Her statement came weeks after she shared a post on social media that appeared to announce her breakup with Skylanta.

Many fans speculated about their relationship status following the post.

Despite this revelation, Anne Kansiime and Skylanta were once considered one of the most admired celebrity couples in Uganda.

With their kid, their relationship was known for its joyful moments, often shared with the public.
