Oliver Otieno, alias YY, is a man with many titles. He is a father, a fitness enthusiast, an accomplished comedian and an actor. He is however yet to earn the title of husband after partying ways with Marya Okoth, whom they share a daughter.

After his relationship with Marya, YY got into a relationship with Noela, an entrepreneur and PR and Communication professional. This relationship was brief and only lasted months with the comedian confirming they had broken up in January 2025.

Relationship with Marya

Marya is an actress, interior designer and brand influencer. She and YY Began dating when she was in her final years in college.

When YY met her, he was very clear with his intention of settling down with her from the first day . He was impressed by her loving character and innovativeness. Through YY, Marya was able to land acting gigs that have since cemented her name in the industry.

“I saw her potential and invested in her creativity, even though the returns weren’t immediate,” the comedian said in a past interview with Mic Cheque podcast.

He went on to explain his decision to invest in the woman.

“Invest in a woman, whether they appreciate it or not. I believe in doing good without expecting anything in return. Expectation is what kills relationships. I’ve seen situations where you help a woman, and they may or may not be grateful, but that doesn’t change who I am,” he said.

He further noted that people should build partners so that they can be proud of them when they become exes.

Marya and YY’s  love faded as the years went by and in September 2024, she announced that their relationship had come to an end.

Following how things turned out, Marya vowed to never put her future relationship in the limelight.

Relationship with Noela

Barely a month after his relationship with Marya was publicized, YY moved on, introducing Noela Toywa as his new girlfriend in November 2024. Noela even introduced him to her parents back in Western, sparking claims that they were going to formalize things sooner than expected.

YY justified his action of moving on fast saying, “I am that person who works well when I know I have a place to run to, I have a home to run to I have somebody at the back to cheers me up.”

He added that men usually look up to women for moral support, not money or anything else.

In a recent interview with Betty Kyallo, he said that his relationship with Noela was real and not clout as many thought.

“It was real. Whatever went wrong I will not disclose because it is not that  important to the public but it was real for what it was,” the father of one said.

Who is an ideal woman for YY then?

In his interview with Betty, YY affirmed that he wouldn’t stop trying to get into a relationship that would lead to marriage because the previous ones had failed.

“A husband material is always a husband material. A lover for family is always a lover for family because  if we stopped for all the challenges we go through we wouldn’t have accomplished anything,” he said, arguing that there is no perfect woman.

“There is nothing like a perfect woman, there is no perfect woman.”

He shared characteristics of his ideal woman and they include;  One  who doesn’t drink alcohol,  is brilliant, meaning they can converse and agree without an argument, and one who God fearing. According to him, one who doesn’t respect God wouldn’t show him respect as well.

The major thing that turns off YY from women he meets

“When I sit down with a person I want to know her perception without men, “he said, explaining that he is done with some one on the first date because they are bitter about men and are yet to heal from their previous encounters.

He also puts his women on the spot with a tight question that leaves them scratching their heads.

“One question that I ask every woman that I go on date with I as them ‘If you want to be in my life, how are you going to make my life better?’ No woman has been able to answer that question. All of them are coming with what they want to benefit from me . None has answered my question, “he said.

YY noted that he is able to do all the basic things that women say they can do such as household chores.

“For a second men need to evaluate what is in it for them,” he said.

YY is yet to find this person who will give him a convincing answer. He is however positive that that person will come his way.
