Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho married Madina Giovanni Fazzini on 11th February 2011 in a low key Muslim wedding.
Madina is in the process of divorcing her estranged husband nearly 11 years after they got married.
Joho married Madina while he was still the MP for Kisauni. Their wedding was a low key affair that was only attended by family and close friends.
Even though Madina took back seat in politics, she is a great mobilizer who campaigned for Joho especially among female voters. She also managed Joho’s foundation at one point.
Madina and Joho’s marriage failed the test of time. Cracks started emerging in January 2013 when the Mombasa governor moved to a different living quarter.
In June 2013, Joho ultimately moved out of his matrimonial home and left Madina and the kids alone.
The Mombasa governor dated other women after separating with Madina. His relationship with Betty Kyallo was exposed in 2016 when the media personality left her husband Dennis Okari to be with him.
Betty cheated withJoho and when her ex husband Okari found out he divorced her, just six month into their marriage.
After her marriage crumbled in 2016, Betty and Joho got into a serious relationship and the Mombasa governor went out of his way to spoil her.
Joho gifted Betty with a BMW X6 and a Porsche Cayenne, besides a monthly upkeep stipend that would make any girl’s eye water.
Governor 001 also ‘bought’ her a house along Lenana Road in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.
Joho was so generous he even opened a business that deals in leather products for Betty’s sister Mercy, but Betty wanted more.
The media personality is said to have crossed the red line when she demanded that their relationship be made public so that she could be the First Lady of Mombasa County.
However, that was not to happen. Joho got fed up and broke up with her in 2017. He kicked her out of the Kilimani house because it was not in her name. He also repossessed the cars he had given her.
Joho was also linked with YouTuber and travel vlogger Natalie Tewa, their alleged relationship was exposed in sometimes in August 2020 when they allegedly traveled to Dubai alone.
Tired of being referred as Joho’s wife, Madina petitioned the Kadhi court Mombasa in January 2022 to dissolve her marriage.
Madina, who is of Italian and Somali descent, noted in her affidavit, that she took the bold decision because there was no hope or possibility of reconciliation whatsoever with the Mombasa governor.
“Since the respondent moved out of matrimonial home in June 2013 the substance of our marriage has dissipated and has no basis to be sustained from a legal and/or social standpoint.
“It is obvious that there is no hope or possibility of reconciliation or compromise of whatever nature or kind between myself and the respondent,” Madina said in her affidavit.
