The feature exposed a cartel operating in parts of Nyanza that conned unsuspecting job seeking teachers thousands of shillings to get appointment letters from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The teachers would even be posted to schools with the fake letters.
Citizen TV reported that the cartel would even demand for more than Kshs80, 000 depending on where the teachers would want to be posted and the level of education.
The investigative journalist who did the story was even given a new ‘TSC number’ after they discovered that the one the journalist was using was incorrect.
TSC’s head of communication admitted that he was aware of the fake letters and that some of the cases were in the hands of the police.
He however denied denied claims that some of the TSC officials were involved in the scam.
