UDA party is set to decide on the fate of nominated senator Karen Nyamu in the coming weeks.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) decided to institute a disciplinary committee to probe Nyamu’s conduct in the wake of the drama witnessed in Dubai.
Nyamu fought with Samidoh’s wife Edday Nderitu during the singer’s Mugiithi show in Dubai on December 16, 2022.
Videos of the altercation went viral on social media prompting many Kenyans to petition UDA to institute disciplinary action against Nyamu.
A week later after the drama in Dubai, Nyamu was summoned to appear before the UDA Disciplinary Committee.
The hearing was pushed to January 20th, 2023.
However, in a statement on Friday, 20 January, the ruling party resolved to grant Nyamu more time to respond to the allegations.
“The senator has been allowed more time to respond to the allegations levelled against her by a party member. The committee adjourns the matter to 9.00 am on 24th February,” read part of the statement.
Should the disciplinary process result in her expulsion from UDA, Karen Nyamu will lose her senatorial post.
Earlier, UDA senator for Kakamega Boni Khalwale defended Karen Nyamu noting that Samidoh was to be blamed for the whole drama witnessed in Dubai.
