Anerlisa Muigai was ordered to pay Ksh2 million after her ex-boyfriend Ben Kangangi won a defamation case against her.
Kangangi sued Anerlisa over a post she made on her Facebook and Instagram pages back in 2018 which he found to be defamatory.
The Keroche Heiress referred her ex boyfriend as an unscrupulous businessman who conducted fraudulent businesses and could not be trusted.
Kangangi sued Anerlisa for defamation claiming her post caused general damages to his businesses as well as his reputation.
He sort court order to compel Anerlisa to pay for the damages and issue a written apology.
Justice Said Chitembwe found Anerlisa guilty of defamation after failing to prove that the statement she made about the ex-boyfriend was true.
“Given the evidence on record, it is this court’s view that it (the post) was indeed defamatory. The post directly referred to the plaintiff (Kangangi) and indicated that he was an unscrupulous businessman who conducted fraudulent businesses and could not be trusted.
“The plaintiff indicated that the claims by the defendant( Anerlisa) were false and that the defendant did not provide anything to controvert the same,” Chitembwe ruled.
Chitembwe further directed that Anerlisa should pay her ex boyfriend a whopping Ksh2 million for the damages caused.
“Given the evidence on record, I do find that a global award of Ksh2 million shall be adequate compensation for the plaintiff. The plaintiff is hereby awarded Ksh2million as general damages plus costs and interest,” Chitembwe ruled.
Anerlisa has since come out to speak on the court ruling. Shr claims that she was not even aware that Kangangi had filled the lawsuit because she was not served with a notice/court order.
“They never served me any papers, this was done maliciously. Undercover and without my consent. I am 100% unaware of this case,” Anerlisa said in an interview with Mpasho.
