Jimmy Gait is so broke that he has now resorting to selling computers online and sending girls to Saudi Arabia.
The singer is now just a shadow of his former self. During his heydays, he was the most sought-after gospel singer in Kenya.
At the prime of his career, Gait dominated the airwaves with hits like Kuna Day, Huratiti, Furi Furi Dance among others.
He was also the darling of the biggest corporates in Kenya – did I mention that he featured late Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore in Furi Furi Dance?
Jimmy Gait was someone who could call Safaricom CEO and talk to him directly like they were boys.
Even the country’s top leadership including the president knew exactly who Jimmy Gait was.
However, Jimmy Gait lost his glory and even the media turned their back on him as he is no longer popping.
We only heard of Jimmy Gait again when Eric Omondi came out to bash him for sending girls to Saudi Arabia and selling computers online.
“Jimmy Gait anauza laptop, anachukua mamaid, waschana wetu anawapeleka Saudi Arabia. All he does on Instagram is no longer ministry… ‘Hi guys are you a lady between 18 and 25? I have a job for you in Saudi Arabia.’… where our girls are raped, our girls are dying. That is what Jimmy Gait is doing. COME BACK TO YOUR MINISTRY. And you will not succeed Jimmy Gait. It is not your calling, go back to your talent. What is it that God gave you to do? Uliacha kuimba you are broke. Nyi wote munaisha,” Eric Omondi said.
Even though Eric Omondi blasted him, Jimmy Gait at least has to be thankful that the comedian mentioned him as in the process he got the spotlight shinning on him again.
The media reached out to Jimmy Gait after Eric roasted him. He claimed that he was on leave and that God has been preparing him to make a comeback.
“I will be back soon. I am in the process and I miss my fans and the industry,” Jimmy Gait said.
“It has been a blessing ministering to them and I speak and teach the word a lot despite me not singing. I may be missing out there but I am not missing in the kingdom. I move at the pace of God,” he added.
On claims the gospel industry is dead, Jimmy Gait said that is a season and it will soon come to an end.
Jimmy Gait has not released any song in two years. Even the last songs that he released failed to impress at all.
He has been trying to make a comeback in vain. Will Jimmy Gait ever get his mojo back? Time will tell.
