Behind every great man is a great woman, Sarah Odero Wanza is Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s wife. They’ve been married for 17 years and he paid only two goats for her dowry. The goats were reportedly gifted to him by a friend.
Sarah Odero has been thrust into the public eye after her husband, the beloved Pastor Ezekiel, was arrested amidst the shocking Shakahola horror.
The investigations into the activities of their church, New Life Prayer Centre and Church, at Mavueni in Kilifi have left Sarah in the spotlight, with many curious to know more about her and her involvement in the church.
The situation is undoubtedly emotional and overwhelming for her, as she comes to terms with the aftermath of her husband’s arrest and the impact on their family, church, ventures and community.
The love story of Sarah Odero and her husband, Pastor Ezekiel Odero, is one that warms the heart.
The two met while he was working in Mombasa as a mason and fell in love and got married eventually.
They have built a successful ministry, New Life Church at Mavueni and have been partners in serving their congregation since.
It’s said that fate brought Sarah and Evangelist Ezekiel together in 2011, and despite facing opposition from some of his family members who questioned her education. She only schooled up to class three and was thus not so good in speaking and expressing herself,regardless; the two lovebirds tied the knot.
Their love has been a shining example of what it means to stand by your partner through thick and thin,as she accepted to be Ezekiel’s wife when he had nothing.
They have four children in total, three born of them and one adopted after the passing of Pastor Ezekiel’s brother’s wife at childbirth.
The two love birds have built something beautiful together,New Life Prayer Centre and Church; which is under closure threat following the arrest and detainment of Pastor Ezekiel on allegations that, he was an accomplice to Pastor Paul Mackenzie who’s the main suspect and force behind, what is now known as the Shakahola Cult Massacre.
“When I wanted to marry Pastor Sarah, some of my people told me ooh she didn’t go to school. She can’t speak English. what if you marry her and big people come what will they say? I looked at my wife and didn’t see English but a beautiful woman who can take care of a ministry. English can’t take care of a ministry!” Pastor Ezekiel confessed a while back to the public.
Together, they have been on a journey to build a thriving ministry that has impacted the lives of many and become so powerful. In 2022 their crusade at Kasarani International Stadium caused conversations among Kenyans after her husband filled it to the brim.
During the court case at Shanzu Law Courts recently, it was revealed that Pastor Ezekiel Odero, the founder and spiritual leader of New Life Prayer Center in Mavueni, has created a complex that not only offers spiritual guidance but also provides essential social amenities.
They include international schools, a petrol station, a hotel, and accommodation for staff, all of which serve the local community, which Sarah Odera is current overseeing all the operations.
