Strategy That Kindiki Is Applying To Become Kenya’s President In Future

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has hinted that he is after the country’s top seat. He has analysed the political history of Kenya’s presidents, and want to follow in their footsteps without making any mistakes.

While speaking in Kirinyaga, during president William Ruto’s tour in Mt. Kenya,  Kindiki noted that loyalty to his boss is the key to earning the presidency when the time is right.

“We all know that Mzee Moi was loyal to Kenyatta and God blessed him. Mzee Kibaki said yes to Moi, God blessed him. Uhuru Kenyatta, who is our leader here, there are people who started lying him in 2005 and he fought Kibaki in 2005 leading to referendum but our elders from our community talked him and advised him to support Kibaki if he wanted to be blessed. In 2007 Kenyatta supported Kibaki and said yes sir, he was definitely blessed,” the second in command stated.

“We therefore have our president William Ruto, for 10 years, president Ruto said yes sir to Uhuru Kenyatta and God has blessed him such that he is our president. I want you to allow me to help president and say yes sir  so that I may be blessed,” Kindiki further said.

Kindiki has faced criticism of being ‘submissive’ to Ruto and not challenging him, like his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua. Many feel that his approach may undermine his independence and ability to act decisively in national matters. He is however confident with his approach.

“I am not stupid,I know what I am doing. You must be loyal President to get things done and assist the President deliver on his agenda to Kenyans,” he noted.

The Promise Kindiki made during his swearing in

In his recent comments, Kindiki is proving to be a man of his words because when he was sworn into office in November last year, he promised not to let Ruto down.

“I am grateful to President Ruto for the honor he has given me to serve under him. I have been his political student for 20 years, and nothing in the political arena has taught me more than the years I have spent by his side,” Kindiki said. “I promise you (President William Ruto) before this congregation and before God, that I will not let you down for the privilege you have given me,” he said.

“I will be loyal and faithful to you,” he went on.

Ruto on the other hand was confident that he will receive the required support from Gachagua, something that he had been missing for two years, while Gachagua was his ‘assistant.’
