Sorry Gossipers, No More Tea! Instagram Deletes Blogger Edgar Obare’s Account

It’s double tragedy for blogger Edgar Obare as he has lost his Instagram account, the second he is losing in less than a year.

Obare’s first verified Instagram account, which has over 400,000 followers, was deactivated on August 30th 2021.

It is not clear who deactivated the account, a move that happened just two days after he shared an exposé on money laundering business in Kenya involving fake gold and cash printing.

He claimed the business, which is referred to as wash wash, involves prominent politicians, immigration officials, media personalities, police officers, flamboyant businessmen and bank officials.

After losing his verified account, Obare operated another Instagram account ‘Bnnke’ where he continued to feed his fans scoops on the latest gossips in town.

However, On Thursday 6th January 2021, Obare announced that he had lost his Bnnke Instagram account.

The controversial blogger announced through his Twitter handle that his Bnnke Instagram account had been disabled.

Obare stated on his Twitter account that he has since appealed the deactivation of his backup account by Instagram.

“Good morning, so Instagram today decided to disable my account Bnnke on Instagram. We are working to figure out what to do next, as we appeal this decision with Instagram. See you soon,” Obare tweeted.

Instagram often disables accounts deemed to have breached the service’s community guidelines. There are however options for users to get their account reinstated again.

It appears Obare lost the appeal to get his Bnnke Instagram account reinstated. The blogger is now operating a new Instagram account altogether.
