Sonko’s Daughter Responds To Claims Of Squandering Money Stolen From Nairobi County

Sandra Mbuvi, the daughter of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, was forced to address claims she is spending her father’s loot to finance her lavish lifestyle.

A critic blasted Sandra Mbuvi when she took to social media to show off.

“Mnakula pesa ya Nairobi,” the critic wrote.

Sandra angrily hit out at the troll asking them where they were when her father was making money.

“Wewe ulikuwa wapi baba zetu akitafuta? You can’t be talking all that na uko kwa bedsitter,” She posed.

Sonko faces numerous grafts cases that have cost him his political career.

In December 2022, Nairobi county assembly unanimously impeached Sonko.

88 members of the county assembly voted to support the impeachment motion while 2 others voted against the move.

The embattled governor is being accused of gross violation of the Constitution and other laws, abuse of office, commission of crimes under the national laws and lacking the mental capability to run the county government.

In March 2022, US banned Sonko, his daughter Sandra and several other members of his family from visiting America over corruption.

“The U.S. Department of State is designating former-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Gidion Mbuvi Kioko due to his involvement in significant corruption.

“While in office, Governor Sonko solicited bribes and kickbacks in exchange for awarding government contracts to his associates. His actions undermined the rule of law and the public’s faith in Kenya’s democratic institutions and public processes.”

“This designation is made under Section 7031(c) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2021. Under this authority, designated officials of foreign governments involved in significant corruption and their immediate family members are ineligible for entry into the United States.

“The Department of State is also announcing the designation of the following members of Sonko’s immediate family: his wife Primrose Mwelu Nyamu Mbuvi; their daughters Saumu Agnes Mbuvi and Salma Wanjiru Mbuvi; and Sonko’s minor child.

“These designations reaffirm the commitment of the United States to combatting corruption and supporting the rule of law while strengthening democratic institutions in Kenya. We will continue to use all available tools to promote accountability for corrupt actors in this region and globally,” US State Department announced.

Sonko’s attempt to vie for a political seat were thwarted by the Supreme Court which ruled to block him from vying for Mombasa governor’s seat.

The Supreme Court ruling in July 2022 technically blocks Sonko from holding any public office.
