President Uhuru Kenyatta has over the years managed to keep his private life away from the public. He has tried as much as possible not to expose his family and personal friends to the public.
In most cases, President Kenyatta is normally seen around his political friends such as Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Gideon Moi among others
This may make you wonder if the Head of State really has buddies that he can easily sit around with, grab a glass of beer and never talk about politics.
According to a report seen by Kenya Reports, the President surely has a group of friends he hangs around with and shares with them some personal matters. Some of these friends he either grew up with them or even talk about business matters.
Some of the president’s personal friends include;
Solicitor General Njee Muturi
One of the president’s close friends is Solicitor General Njee Muturi who previously served as his personal assistant for 11 years. The friendship of Njee and the president is said to have begun when they were both members of the KANU party.
Jimmy Kibaki
The first-born son of former President Mwai Kibaki, Jimmy Kibaki is also understandably one of President Uhuru’s close friends.
The friendship between Jimmy and Uhuru is said to have kicked off due to the close ties their families have. According to sources, it is President Kibaki who suggested the current president be named Uhuru as independence was only two years away from his birth year.
President Uhuru and Jimmy are like brothers now that President Kikabi is Uhuru’s godfather. The friendship between them is also said to have been cemented further as they both attended the same school, St Mary’s School.
Maluki Mwendwa
Maluki Mwendwa, son of the country’s Chief Justice, the late Kitili Mwendwa, and former Cabinet Minister Nyiva Mwendwa is also another close friend to the president.
Reports claim that the two started being friends while they were still very young. The two are said to have grown together at the Coast where Mzee Kenyatta used to spend most of the time.
Wainaina Kinyanjui
In the business world, Kinyanjui is also said to be the President’s close aide. The friendship of the two goes way back when President Uhuru was still young as Kinyanjui’s father served in the police force during Jomo Kenyatta’s reign.
William Kabogo
Believe it or not, the former Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo is very close to President Uhuru regardless of their consistent political differences.
The two are said to have grown up together, at the Coast, where Kabogo’s father was a senior civil servant and close confidant of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta who occasionally was residing at the Coast.
Bruce Odhiambo
The late music producer and former chair of the Youth Enterprise Fund was also another friend to the President. The two are said to have met while they were studying in the United States.
