Lia and Omer both children of Gilad Millo now a Kenyan citizen are serving Israel Army, which is at war with Hamas, a Palestine group.
In the midst of a devastating and escalating conflict between Israel and Gaza, renowned singer Gilad Millo has shared the news that his son, Omer, has made the decision to join the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as a reservist.
This decision comes as a response to the ongoing violence in the region that has claimed the lives of thousands and left countless others injured.
Gilad Millo, an Israeli-born artist who gained Kenyan citizenship in December 2021 after residing in Kenya for over two decades, took to his Facebook page to make this heartfelt announcement.
In his post, he expressed his pride in Omer’s decision to serve his country during this tumultuous period.
Early in his statement, Gilad highlighted that Omer had recently arrived in Israel, having faced numerous challenges with flight cancellations. He explained that Omer had completed his regular army service more than a year ago and was in Nicaragua when the conflict in the region intensified.
Tragically, it was on October 7 that the situation took a horrific turn when Hamas terrorists launched a brutal attack, resulting in the loss of over 1,300 innocent lives.
The impact of this event left a deep impression on Omer and motivated his return to serve in the IDF.
What makes this act of service even more poignant is the fact that Gilad’s daughter, Lia, is already a dedicated soldier, actively involved in training medical teams.
Both Omer and Lia grew up in Kenya, but their sense of duty to Israel compelled them to join the IDF, where they are contributing their skills and commitment to support their country during this challenging time.
In his statement, Gilad expressed the collective pain and grief felt by his family and their friends, who have all been touched by the devastating attacks in the region. The profound sense of loss and sorrow that has affected them personally has fueled their resolve to stand together and protect their homeland.
“Kids, your mother and I are as proud as any parent can be of their children for the incredible human beings you have become,” Gilad shared in his emotional post. “Our hearts are full. We pray to God to keep you both safe and healthy.”
The conflict between Israel and Gaza has shown no signs of abating. It began last Saturday when Hamas fighters initiated a surprise attack on Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made a resolute commitment to continue the military assault until every member of Hamas is eliminated.
As tensions rise, Israeli forces are preparing for a potential ground invasion of Gaza, in a concerted effort to root out Palestinian fighters in a door-to-door search.
The situation remains fluid and precarious, with hopes for a swift and peaceful resolution growing increasingly distant.
