Radio legend Shaffie Weru will return to the airwaves, alongside the newly married Kamene Goro, at NRG Radio.
Kamene, disclosed that she and Shaffie will be co-anchoring the NRG Transit show.
DJ Pierra Makena will also be gracing the studio alongside the illustrious duo every Friday, as they take on the airwaves for a four-hour spectacle, running between 3 pm and 7 pm.
Kamene’s media career began as a news anchor and presenter for Ebru TV, where she worked until 2017. Later, she joined NRG Radio as a presenter alongside Andrew Kibe, and subsequently worked at Kiss 100 before departing in 2023.
Taking over from the acclaimed radio personality Mwalimu Rachel, who had previously hosted the show unaccompanied by a co-host, Shaffie and Kamene are set to bring their unrivaled chemistry to the airwaves.
While Kamene had taken a hiatus from the radio sphere after departing from Kiss FM on the 27th of January, Shaffie had been away from the studio for a staggering two years.
In March 2021, Shaffie was indefinitely suspended from Homeboys Radio, following accusations of making contentious statements. Though he expressed contrition for the remarks, he insisted that they were misconstrued.
Subsequently, he redirected his efforts towards branding and event management, even offering his services to the Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja without remuneration, prior to his appointment as the Head of Events and Branding for the Nairobi County.
