Robert Burale identifies himself as a pastor and motivational speaker but continues to cause pain to unsuspecting people he cons.
Elizabeth Cherop Muge is the latest victim to be swindled millions of shillings by con artist Burale.
Elizabeth is the daughter of the late Alexander Kipsang Muge – the famous bishop of Anglican diocese of Eldoret.
The bishop’s daughter took to Facebook on Wednesday February 23rd 2022 to express her frustrations with Burale after he swindled her $40,000 or Ksh4.5 million.
Elizabeth didn’t delve into details of how Burale owes her the money but just revealed that they signed a legal agreement that compelled the con artist to refund her the money.
However, she lamented that Burale has been playing cat and mouse game with her until she got tired and ultimately gave up on demanding her money back.
“When one finally gets to a point of peace and says hey. Keep the money, rather than I chasing after you monthly to pay up as per the law firm legal agreement WE both signed that you would pay back ALL the $40k you conned off me.
“Israel Robert Burale – keep that money. every penny of it, and may God forgive you! 2 years later I am done, exhausted chasing after it – I will earn it all back! Ladies, be aware, that is his game – Please, if I ever need to hire a con man, he would be the man!” Distraught Elizabeth Cherop Muge wrote.
Elizabeth is not the first person to expose Burale for conning them. In August 2020, actress Nini Wacera narrated how the con artist swindled her Ksh250,000.
Wacera detailed how Burale swindled her the money in 2005 on a popular web series dubbed “Janjaruka”.
She said that she met Burale at a club and got to know each other. The conman later introduced her to his ‘mother’ and took her to his swanky offices located in Westlands.
According to Wacera, she grew fond of Burale and got into a relationship with him, but he withheld sex from her.
At the time, she was looking to purchase a car and had saved up Ksh250,000. It was going to be her first car.
As it happened, Burale told her that he was a car dealer and was willing to help her out. He offered to transport the motor vehicle from Mombasa to Nairobi.
So calculated was the con that when he arrived in Mombasa he kept touch and sent pictures showing where he was, exactly. She trusted him.
A few days later, however, Burale went silent and was nowhere to be found. The next step for Wacera was to report the matter to the police.
The police could not trace him, the woman he had introduced as his mother, denied ever laying her eyes on Wacera. At the Westlands offices, no one knew of his whereabouts.
A few years later, Wacera learnt that Burale was an actor and had since swindled some five people.
The veteran actress also remembered bumping into a advertisement indicating that Burale is a pastor claiming to help single women find love.
Nini Wacera aside, Burale’s ex wife Rozinah Mwakideu (sister to popular Milele FM presenter Alex Mwakideu) also narrated her ordeal being married to a serial conman.
In 2018, Rozinah Mwakideu revealed that she divorced Burale because he piled so much debt during their marriage.
The two were married for only a year before Rozinah dumped Burale saying she found so many things were not adding up.
Rozinah said that even though they were both born-again Christians, there were so many things Burale was hiding from her which put their marriage in jeopardy.
“We were both born again but that doesn’t mean perfection. Each one of us had issues but they are certain which I wouldn’t stand. You know character is a very important thing but during that time I couldn’t stand Robert’s character.
“For instance many at times I would receive calls from police and other people complaining that Robert owed them monies and had failed to return. However the incident which made me leave was when I brought a female friend home and after two months she called telling me if my husband didn’t pay back her money she would send thugs to teach him a lesson.
“This was the kind of life I lived and I couldn’t bear it anymore,” Rozinah said during an interview with Massawe Japanni on radio Jambo.
Rozinah also revealed that there were red flags of Burale cheating on her and she couldn’t contain the pressure.
