The internet is buzzing after a recent Instagram video shared by Ben Gatu has left fans speculating about the status of his relationship with Saumu Mbuvi, the daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Ben Gatu recently posted a video of himself and Saumu partying together at an undisclosed location.
The clip shows the pair enjoying a night out in a club, accompanied by another person.
Saumu appears to be in high spirits, dancing to the music, which caught the attention of many followers.
The speculation intensified when Saumu reposted the video on her own Instagram account with a cheeky caption: “My baby daddy is better than yours.”
This has led fans to wonder if the two are experiencing a friendly reunion or if there might be a romantic spark rekindling between them.
Their relationship has been a rollercoaster. Saumu and Ben Gatu’s love story began while they were both students at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). They quickly became couple goals for many, but their relationship ended in 2017, shortly after the birth of their daughter.
In a candid interview, Saumu reflected on their past, revealing that their relationship was toxic and took a toll on her mental health.
“My first relationship. I was only 21, young and naive, thinking the relationship would lead to marriage. It totally damaged me and left me in depression,” she confessed.
After her split from Gatu, Saumu moved on with former Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip, with whom she had two more children. However, their relationship ended in 2021 amidst serious allegations.
Saumu accused Anwar of gender-based violence, which he denied, claiming he only hit her once and attributing her behavior to bipolar disorder.
Despite their tumultuous past, Saumu and Ben Gatu seem to be on good terms, especially in their co-parenting efforts.
Saumu has praised Gatu on social media recently, and Gatu has consistently shown appreciation for her, particularly on her birthdays.
