In a stunning turn of events, Kenyan social media personality and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has officially disassociated himself from socialite Huddah Monroe, citing concerns over the allure of money and fame in their would-be relationship.
In a candid Instagram post, Salasya poured out his frustrations, stating, “Hawa wenye hukulwa na pesa mimi siezani wataangusha serkali afadhali nirudi kwa vienyeji yangu ya kawaida.” Translated, this means, “Those who are consumed by money—I can’t engage with them; they will bring down the government. I’d rather return to my humble beginnings.”
His declaration comes as a pointed critique of the social media world that often glamorizes wealth and materialism.
He underscored his desire to stay true to his roots, expressing gratitude to his loyal supporters from his community.
He added, “Any comment I made that hearted any of my kienyeji outside here please forgive. Ilikuwa tu mambo ya social media,” which translates to, “It was just social media antics.”
In the post, Salasya made it clear that he does not want to be associated with what he termed as “wash wash”—a local term for individuals involved in shady deals or money scams.
“Forgive me nyinyi ndio munawezana na mimi huyu anataka watu wa wash wash ndio wako na pesa ya kuaribu,” he explained, addressing his fans directly and indicating that he blames the superficiality of influencer culture for his decision.
Many fans took to social media to express their support for Salasya’s bold statements, applauding him for prioritizing authenticity over the glitz and glamour of fame.
Others, however, have criticized him for making such harsh accusations against Huddah.
Nevertheless, Salasya seems confident in his choice to step away from what he views as a detrimental association, calling it a necessary move for his well-being and integrity.
As this saga unfolds, followers are left wondering how both personalities will navigate the volatile waters of influencer culture, where the lines between personal and public personas often blur.
