Ruth K, the girlfriend of comedian Mulamwah, has firmly dismissed allegations that she ‘stole’ him from his ex-girlfriend, Caroline Muthoni, popularly known as Carol Sonnie.
In a candid video shared on her YouTube channel, the mother of one addressed the swirling rumors that gained traction following the couple’s social media announcement of their relationship.
The accusations began after Ruth and Mulamwah made their romance public, leading to speculation and judgment from netizens.
Ruth strongly asserted that she did not come between Mulamwah and Sonie, urging the online community to refrain from jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts.
“According to what I know, things are on the ground, not according to what you say on the internet. Mulamwah was telling me things will be fine as time goes by, he is telling me to calm down. We passed that period, but until today, there are people who call me a usurper,” Ruth explained, alluding to the ongoing backlash she faces.
Ruth expressed gratitude for Mulamwah’s support in navigating the harsh criticism, revealing that he plans to share his perspective on the situation.
“He has helped me a lot to deal with the online attacks, and he will explain what happened,” she added, highlighting the difficulties in managing public scrutiny.
Discussing her relationship with Carol Sonnie, Ruth clarified that they have never been friends and have never even met.
“That husband snatcher story happened because Carol, who I respect a lot, said Ruth is my friend. People concluded that Carol and Ruth are friends, and that’s when things went wrong. People assumed that it did not happen,” she stated, emphasizing the misunderstandings that led to the accusations.
Ruth further elaborated, saying, “Carol and I have never met, we never studied together. I’ve never been friends with Carol, and she can attest to this. We never went to the same school. I have spent most of my life in Eldoret and only recently came to Nairobi. We’ve never met.”
Mulamwah first introduced Ruth to his fans in December 2022, shortly after Carol Sonie publicly announced her breakup, which intensified the scrutiny surrounding their relationship.
He recently disclosed that Ruth K and him started dating when Carol Sonie was pregnant.
