Rish Kamunge Arrest: How The Popular TikToker Conned Kenyans Millions Of Shillings

The meteoric rise of Kenyan TikToker Rish Kamunge has taken a dramatic turn, as she now faces accusations of orchestrating a massive job scam that has defrauded numerous Kenyans of millions of shillings.

Kamunge, known for her lavish lifestyle and promises of lucrative overseas employment, was arrested on March 26, 2025, after victims stormed her Nairobi office and dragged her to the Central Police Station.

The TikToker, whose real name is Mary Kamunge, is the founder of Trust Pin Verified Agency Limited, a travel agency located along Moi Avenue.

The agency, heavily promoted through her popular TikTok and social media channels, lured unemployed Kenyans with promises of well-paying jobs in Mauritius.

However, the dream of overseas employment quickly turned into a nightmare for many.

Victims allege that they were required to pay a fee of Ksh200,000 (approximately $1,500 USD) to the agency, purportedly to cover airfare, agency fees, and other associated costs.

Upon arriving in Mauritius, however, they discovered that the promised hotel jobs did not exist, leaving them stranded in a foreign country without support.

“We were promised good jobs, a comfortable life,” one victim told local media. “Instead, we found ourselves abandoned and cheated.”

The irate victims, who have filed statements at the Central Police Station, stormed Kamunge’s office demanding refunds.

The Nairobi Central Sub-County Commander, Stephen Okal, has urged other potential victims to come forward and provide information to aid in the ongoing investigation.

“We are taking these allegations very seriously. We encourage anyone who has been defrauded by this agency to report to the Central Police Station immediately,”Okal stated.

Kamunge’s lawyer has responded to the allegations, stating that his client is willing to reimburse anyone who paid fees to the agency and did not receive the promised job.

He also claimed that the situation was a case of misrepresentation against the agency.

Rish Kamunge cultivated a significant following on TikTok by showcasing a glamorous lifestyle, featuring expensive travel and luxury items.

This carefully curated image of success and wealth served to bolster the credibility of her job agency, attracting a large number of hopeful applicants.

The victims’ accounts paint a stark contrast to the luxurious image Kamunge projected on social media.

They describe being misled and abandoned, their hopes dashed by the reality of the alleged scam. The investigation is now focused on determining the full extent of the fraud and ensuring that justice is served.

This case highlights the growing concern over online scams targeting vulnerable individuals seeking employment opportunities.

The authorities are warning Kenyans to exercise caution when dealing with online agencies and to verify the legitimacy of job offers before paying any fees.

The arrest of Rish Kamunge serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of online fraud and the importance of due diligence.
