The chairman of gospel music Ringtone Apoko has supported the controversial Malindi cult leader Paul Mackenzie saying that he did not commit any crime.
According to him, Mackenzie’s believers who fasted to death are now in heaven because they had great faith which saw them leave behind their worldly possessions to seek the kingdom of God.
“As Ringtone, I don’t see any mistake that Mackenzie committed because he told people to fast and they did. I am very sure that all the people Mackenzie told to fast have gone to heaven because that is a very big faith, for people to fast and live the whole world and everything behind and follow God,” Ringtone said in an interview with Nicholas Kioko.
He added that many people will not go to heaven because they are not ready to surrender their lives and wealth so as to follow God.
He urged Kenyans not to castigate Mackenzie because he helped the believers take their faith on a different level.
“When you see people like Sonko complaining that he saw a beautiful girl dead, even many Kenyans are angry because of the beautiful air hostess went to fast and died, it is because they love worldly things and don’t like God. I know people will think that I am stupid and I have lost my mind, but I want to say those who left their wealth and went to fast because of Mackenzie, I am sure they are in heaven and are happy,” he said.
The artist further said it is not clear if Mackenzie will go to heaven because he is still living and he ‘ate’ his believers wealth
“The Bible says that there are those who preach the gospel to gain fame, be wealthy but the most important thing is that the word of God is being preached. I think that Mackenzie might not go to heaven because he ate the wealth of his followers. I feel jealous of his believers who are in heaven because I don’t know if we will find them,” he said.
Ringtone noted that had he gotten a chance he would have also fasted like the believers of the Good News International church.
“I would have fasted, but I can’t die because I am cunning. I love fasting. Where I have reached is because of prayers. People should not get angry, the bodies that are being exhumed are earthily bodies we were all created by soil and we would go back to the soil,” he said.
