Ngesh is still hawking handbags to survive even after receiving promises of help.
Renowned Gengetone artist Mary Wangeci, better known as Ngesh Bad Gal, recently shared her hardships within the music industry. Ngesh, as she is affectionately called, expressed her disappointment with numerous individuals who had promised assistance but failed to fulfill their commitments.
Even with her overnight rise to fame with Rieng Ngenje, the 22-year-old singer has resorted to resuming her hawking endeavors to sustain herself in the midst of a challenging economic changes.
People make so many promises, but they don’t follow through, which is why I’m still involved in hawking,” she revealed.
“I will continue hawking because I can’t survive on my brand alone.”
After completing her secondary education in 2021, Ngesh engaged in some manual labor before venturing into the hawking business.
Despite the assurances from others in the industry, she remains committed to her hawking business, selling sling bags in Nairobi.
“Bebe ya Nai” Karen Nyamu, offered to assist her yesterday on solo projects and buying a camera.
Karen invited Ngesh at her office to discuss how she will chip in to keep her music dreams alive.
“It was so good to meet NGESH yesterday! You’re very talented and you’re a super star! Im so honored to fund your first solo project audios and videos 100% na camera tifi ya kutesa hapa mneti,” Karen wrote on social media.
