Kenya Reports has learnt that opposition leader Raila Amollo Odinga is scheduled to be a one term president just like the South African former Icon Nelson Mandela.
This gesture by Raila Odinga has reportedly won the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Baringo senator Gideon Moi who is said to be keen on taking over the mantle from Agwambo in 2027.
Weekly Citizen has also detailed that the one term Raila presidency is meant to provide ample time so that Jubilee and KANU can rebrand amidst onslaught by deputy president William Ruto.
These sources have further disclosed that Raila will have to declare in public that he will only serve for one term if elected president then leave the same to the younger generation.
Unlike in the past where power sharing deals had been kept secret, the Orange democratic Movement leader together with Jubilee will hold a big rally at Uhuru park where he will swear before Kenyans to only rule for one term to do away with suspicion.
The move is said to be an effective way of winning confidence and also bring on board those interested in future power.
With regards to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which was meant to benefit Mount Kenya more with the one man one shilling, Raila Odinga is set to give assurance that he will have it passed.
BBI was seen as one major legacy of president Uhuru Kenyatta and he believes that it is only the ODM leader who can ensure that it successfully goes through.
Another narrative that will be used to sell Raila Odinga is that Kenya is made of more than 40 tribes and that presidency is not just a preserve for two communities namely the Kalenjins and the Kikuyus.
