Popular Kenyan TikToker Brian Chira Wambui tragically passed away in a hit-and-run car accident.
Reports say the influencer, known for his controversial content, was hit by a speeding lorry around 4 am on Saturday while intoxicated in the Gacharage area on the Ndenderu-Ruaka Road in Kiambu County.
Kiambaa sub-county OCPD Pius Mwanthi confirmed the incident, stating that Chira was being taken home by his friend Zeleck Momanyi Alfonso on a motorbike after a night out. The two friends had been at Ciero Resort, where Chira had reportedly caused a disturbance and was escorted out by security guards as the resort was closing.
As they neared the Gacharage roundabout, Chira got off the motorbike and ran onto the main road, where he was struck by a white canter truck and died at the scene. Momanyi, attempting to follow his intoxicated friend, was unable to reach him before the tragic collision.
The police report detailed the events leading up to the accident, noting that Chira had requested to be taken home but then unexpectedly ran onto the main road, leading to the fatal collision.
Chira’s untimely death has left a void in Kenya’s social media and entertainment circles, with many mourning his passing and urging others to prioritize safety in all aspects of life. His body has been taken to the City Mortuary as investigations into the accident continue.
