In the photo which is alleged to have been taken in the year 1974, the veteran actor who has worked with some of the best actors in the Kenyan industry film has to offer in the recent years was one beautiful young lady but in her time.
Lucy Wangui who was born in Ziwani, Kariokor in Nairobi county took up a secretarial course and got a job working at a bakery which was paying her a good salary.
When she was introduced to acting by Mzee Pombe who convinced her to audition where she did and excelled, she loved the art of performing and acting and she’s never looked back ever since.
The talented actress, later on, decided to quit her well-paying job and decided to venture into acting. According to a recent interview, she gave a local publisher, the actress would earn about Ksh. 20 to Ksh. 40. Back then, the highest she’s ever gotten paid was Ksh. 400.
“I used to earn between 20/= to 40/= per show, yeah in the early 70s you understand that’s a whole lot of cash in a teen’s life.
You can’t believe that moment I can really highlight as the day I got the jackpot. I earned Sh 400!” she said.
