Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s wife, Sarah Odero, has broken silence after the arrest of her husband and the closure of their Mavueni church.
In a video that was shared on YouTube, Sarah noted that services at the New Life Prayer Center and Church had been suspended until further notice.
She however urged congregants to continue praying as police continue to investigate the matter at hand.
“I am here to tell you that we will not have prayer services at this church because it is good that we give the government enough time to investigate the ongoing issues besieging churches that have been reported on social media and news. But it is not only about New Life church but many other churches. To those on social media I urge you to continue praying hard,” she said.
Pastor Ezekiel found himself in trouble with the authorities over frequent deaths that have been occurring in his church. He was arraigned in court on Friday after a lengthy grilling by detectives on Thursday.
“He is linked to several occurrence book reports of almost 100 deaths that occurred in the church between 2022 and 2023. These deaths occurred within church precincts,” the prosecution told the court.
Investigations have since established that some of the Christians who died at his church were buried at Shakahola mass graves in which Malindi Cult leader Pastor Paul Mackenzie is at the center of.
Detectives also informed the court that they had obtained transaction records of Kshs3 million between pastor Ezekiel and pastor Mackenzie for the purchase of a TV station.
Meanwhile, Pastor Ezekiel will spend the weekend in police cells till Tuesday when the court will decide whether he will remain in custody for 30 days for investigations to be concluded.
