In Christianity and Judaism, the Ark of Covenant is a gold-plated wooden box that houses the laws(commandments) that God gave Moses. Nobody was allowed to touch the Ark as touching it would bring instant death. While moving the Ark, priests used poles to carry it. Initially, the Ark rested inside the ancient Jerusalem Temple, with only the priest being allowed to access it.

Several people have however come out revealing that they have access of the holy treasure and they include;

Pastor Ezekiel Odero

During a church service on March 23, 2025, Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Church presented to his congregants and audience what he claimed to be the original Ark of Covenant.

Ezekiel’s box that was gold in colour with angels sculpts on top, had a striking resemblance to the original Ark of Covenant. According to the Coastal-based preacher, he bought the Ark of Covenant from Jerusalem and paid millions to transport it to his church.

“I bought this Ark somewhere in a village in Jerusalem where Jesus was born, then I was told that I could not carry it to Kenya, but I asked, how many millions must I pay? Then I paid at customs and carried it to Kenya,” the preacher claimed.

Our Lady Mary of Zion Church

The Orthodox church, which is based in Northern Ethiopia is believed to have the original Ark of Covenant. The church is where Emperors visited to be crowned. Apparently, it gained access to the Ark after prince Menelik I (The son of King Solomon and Queen Sheeba) came with it from Jerusalem after visiting his father.

According to sources, the Ark at the church has a guardian and is not accessible to anyone but the guardian Monk. The monk guards the ark to his death. After his death,  he is succeeded by the person he named as his successor while he was still alive.

If a monk dies before he names his successor, then monks hold an election to get a new guardian.

“The guardian then is confined to the chapel of the Ark of the Covenant for the rest of his life, praying before it and offering incense,” sources reveal.

In mid 1992, a former professor of Ethiopian Studies at the University of London, Edward Ullendorff, declared that he personally examined the ark contained within the church in 1941 while serving as an officer of the British Army.

Mt. Kenya

Another theory holds that the Ark in Central Kenya at the mountain and this for years, has been a secret that only few Gikuyu, Embu and Meru elders are aware of.

The elders are now coming out to reveal this to the public.

“I’m being reminded to tell you that you are known in the world because the you’re the custodian of God’s tablet. God’s tablets are here. Ark of the covenant is here in Mt. Kenya. God’s scrolls are here in Mt. KenyaYou don’t know it because the white man came and erased all that, then they told you you are apes then you accepted. It is for you now to tell the world what you have,” a Gikuyu elder said in an undated video that was shared on social media.

Apparently, the Ark has been present at the mountain since 1210AD but the question is how did it land in Kenya? Gikuyu elders explained this in a documentary.

According to the elders, after the Ark was taken to Ethiopia by Menelik, it was laid to rest in Axum. But there was a plot to steal the Ark, with many parties wanting to have possession of the holy box. The Ark then had to be transported from Axum but during the action, a war broke out, and the conflict reached the Somalia coast, Kaya Forests, down to Kwale in Kenya, In Kenya , along Digo coastline, a counterfeit Ark was created  and broken to divert attention from the original one which was then buried at the top of Mt. Kenya as the war intensified.

Truth about the Original Ark of Covenant’s location

For years,  people have been trying to locate the original Ark. The Ark was formed by Israelites to house the 10 commandments along with other holy objects. Historically, Babylonians are said to have dispossessed the ark from the Temple in Jerusalem.

It is believed that the Ark was destroyed during the Babylonian siege. Others claim that the Ark is buried under the first temple in Jerusalem. Accessing it however is difficult as the area is sacred for Islam Religion.

CIA reports however reveal that the Ark was located in Ethiopia in 1988 inside a church.

“The target is a container and has another container inside of it. The target is fashioned of wood, gold, and silver, and it is decorated with [a six-winged angel],” the CIA report said.
