Music sensation Nadia Mukami has taken the opportunity to share insights about her previous relationship, revealing that it was after meeting Arrow Bwoy that she decided to part ways with her ex-boyfriend.
Fresh off the release of her latest album, ‘Queen of The East,’ Nadia didn’t hold back during her interview with Mwafreeka on the Iko Nini podcast.
Reflecting on her past romance, Nadia described her ex as a driven individual, noting his Luhya background and the high aspirations he held.
However, she expressed discomfort with his traditional viewpoints, particularly his tendencies toward what she defined as toxic masculinity.
“He was very ambitious, which could have been great, but he had some outdated expectations,” she shared, touching on the cultural pressures that made the relationship untenable.
Nadia detailed how her ex’s corporate lifestyle clashed with his expectations at home, creating an imbalance that she found difficult to navigate.
“He often wanted to be treated like the king of the house, but that’s not the type of dynamic I’m looking for,” she explained, emphasizing her need for a relationship built on equality and open dialogue.
Frequent work trips taken by her ex raised red flags for Nadia. She admitted to feeling uneasy about where he was and what he might be doing while away.
“There were too many questions I had in my mind, and that toxic masculinity only added to my suspicions,” she revealed, highlighting the unease that permeated the relationship.
The singer also spoke candidly about female intuition, sharing her belief that women are often aware when a relationship isn’t progressing positively.
“You can stick around for a while, but deep down, you know if it’s going anywhere or not,” Nadia said, acknowledging how she waited in vain for a change while secretly searching for someone who aligned more with her values.
Nadia noted that emotional detachment frequently happens before a physical breakup, recounting how she grew indifferent during visits to her ex’s place.
“I remember feeling like I was just going through the motions. Nothing he did seemed to matter to me anymore, even if he was on the phone with someone else,” she admitted, illustrating the shift in her feelings as the relationship faltered.
A significant factor in their split was her ex’s lack of interest in Nadia’s music career. She articulated her disappointment that he never showed curiosity about her work or offered encouragement.
“He never cared about my passion for music—he wouldn’t even ask how my projects were going,” she noted, recognizing how important support is in her life.
Now, with Arrow Bwoy by her side, Nadia Mukami is grateful for the positive changes in her personal life.
The new relationship represents a fresh beginning, complete with the encouragement and respect she embodies in her music and personal endeavors.
