Popular Nairobi 80-year old woman and proprietor of Shosh Sound Systems has officially joined politics.
Cecilia Wairimu will be vying for Nairobi’s women representative seat through United Alliance Democratic Party’s ticket.
Wairimu was officially welcomed to UDA by the party’s secretary general Veronica Maina on Tuesday November 2.
“Cecilia Mwangi (Shosh) 80 the proprietor of Shosh Sound Systems, who made ripples in the international media, welcomed to UDA by Secretary General Veronica Maina. She will contest for Nairobi Women Representative Seat,” read a statement by UDA.
Shosh gained fame due to her expertise in installing and repairing sound systems in cars in the city.
She has been doing the work for more than two decades.
The news about Shosh going for an elective post in the 2022 general election caused mixed reactions among UDA supporters and general social media users.
“Hapana!!!Mko na jokes sio mzuri,” Malcom X KE said on twittwer.
Joyce Mwangi wrote, “Weweee si age ain’t nothing but a number..wacha shush ajaribu hata yeye.”
“Ata mkiconfuse our grandmothers sisi tunasikiza rais hatupei wezi kiti,” a netizen said.
“Munataka Kupatia Shosh Pressure Tu, Siasa Ni Mchezo Mchafu,” Josepg Gitonga stated.
While nicolaz wrote, “Mumeanza kuingiza muchezo kwa chama what nonsense is this instead of advising this old lady to sit down n eat her fortune pole pole ati mnataka kupea ticket if you choose to go this line the rating of this chama will start to drop.”
