Mother-in-Law actress Charity is crying foul because of how she is being treated by her employer Royal Media services.
Elizabeth Wanjiru, better known as Charity of Citizen TV’s Mother-in-Law, has been acting on Citizen TV for the past 14 years without a contract.
The veteran actress who is in her 70s lamented that she does not feel honored by her employer Royal Media Services (RMS) company.
Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Harun Maina, the Mother-In-Law actress complained that despite working for Citizen TV for 14 years she has never been given a contract.
“I have given it my all but I have not been happy over the way I was given my appointment. Because as you notice I have been an educated Kenyan, and I don’t like walking without a letter of appointment,” Charity said.
Charity started acting professionally in 1997 after retiring from her job as a teacher. She acted on several shows before finally landing a role on Citizen TV.
The septuagenarian lamented that her salary at Citizen TV keeps changing every month but she can’t complain since she doesn’t have a contract.
She also revealed that she was forced to take a pay cut at the dawn of Covid-19 pandemic.
Charity further stated that over the years she has not been proud of her acting job as she has been living in fear that she might get fired without notice because she doesn’t have a contract even after working for Citizen TV for 14 long years.
The Mother-In-Law actress also noted that it would be a honorable thing for thespians if television stations hire actors with written contracts.
