Mike Sonko says the surgery was successful and Scandy is now going to school.
The former governor of Nairobi shared photos of Scandy Chelagat showing she is now better after surgery procedures in India. Mike Sonko says, “I always say the devil is liar. Remember the sad story of Baby Scandy Chelagat from Kericho who was suffering from a cancerous eye tumor?”
Mike Sonko also narrates events that took place in 2015 where her case was brought to his attention.
“We airlifted her to Hyderabad, India where the cancerous tumor was successfully removed after a 9 hour surgery in 2015.
“Since then we have been taking good care of her and her sister throughout the years because they come from a very poor background; their father was a watchman in Kericho and the mother unemployed.”
He also revealed that his Sonko Rescue Team had visited Scandy to check on her progress and give her and other school children support.
“Today my team visited Scandy and her sister at Imani Educational Center in Elburgon, Nakuru county as we were taking to them school shopping. Being a primary boarding school we also decided to give some basic items to all the 150 pupils in the school as a good deed gesture.”
“Each pupil got a blanket, basin, bucket, a bar of panga soap, sanitary towel packs to the girls, a geometrical set, a pair of school shoes, a pack of toilet paper and shoe polish.”
The philanthropic politician, further wished Scandy all the best in her future goals and ambitions.
“I sincerely wish Scandy a prosperous bright future and promise to do everything within my power to realize this dream.”
He also appreciated the surgeons, doctors and all the people involved that made her surgery, a success story.
“We also extend our appreciation to Doctor Ramesh Hyderabad India who keeps on calling us to follow up on Scandy’s progress, her uncle Hon. Donnie Langat, Hon Chirchir Tarimbo and Irene Kurgat aka Chemu of KPA for walking with us in Scandy’s healing journey.”
