The Supreme Court approved the LGBTQ community’s registration as a non-governmental group over the weekend, a decision that the country’s church leaders reacted to with great displeasure. Nonetheless, LGBTQ advocates, including media personality and queer community rights activist Makena Njeri, reacted to the news with joy.

A news conference was requested by several church leaders to denounce and criticize the supreme court’s ruling. Celebs like Daddy Owen have also communicated their anger following the ruling.

In a recently released interview video, Makena explained why they quit attending church. She claimed that they began to feel unwanted in the church as soon as they came out as members of the LGBTQ community.

The queer King, accused the church of discriminating against the community’s members and claimed that God does not practice discrimination.
