Lulu Hassan Recalls How Her Husband Was Poached From NTV To Work With Her At Citizen TV

Lulu Hassan and her husband Rashid Abdalla were paired to co-host Citizen TV Nipashe Wikendi every Saturday and Sunday beginning July 22nd 2018.

Abdalla arrived at Citizen TV from NTV following the exit of Kanze Dena after she was appointed State House spokesperson by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during an interview with SPM Buzz, Lulu Hassan revealed that the idea to poach her husband from NTV was fronted by Kanze Dena.

The State House spokesperson wanted her replacement at Citizen TV to have chemistry with Lulu so she couldn’t think of another person other than Rashid.

“At the time, only the MD and I knew Kanze was going to State House and so we were trying to see who in the stations could be a great replacement and we looked around and we could not find anyone,” Lulu said.

“You know you can’t force chemistry on-air, if it’s not their people will see. So we were on a retreat and broke the news to others about Kanze leaving and we started looking at who others think is the best replacement and then Kanze said, ‘how about we poach Rashid’, I was like what’,” Lulu added.

The Citizen TV Swahili anchor said she was totally fine with the suggestion to work with her husband because they already had chemistry.
