Mumias East MP Peter Salasya claims Pastor Ezekiel is being used as a scapegoat for cult leader Paul Mackenzie’s murders.
Salasya angrily reacted to the news about Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s arrest, faulting the government for the move.
The firebrand politician said police after failing in their jobs to protect lives following the Shakahola deaths have now resorted to arresting Pastor Ezekiel to save face.
“Pastor Ezekiel should be left out of the problems created by Mackenzie. The police, DCI, prosecutor, EACC, court etc had an opportunity to protect the brainwashed citizens but instead kept silence (sic). No one should attack pastor Ezekiel, if he acquired the station what’s the problem,” Salasya tweeted.

Pastor Ezekiel of the New Prayer Centre and Church was arrested on Thursday April 27, 2023, over the deaths of his followers that have been reported in various morgues or institutions.
Police were interested to know why members of Pastor Ezekiel’s New Life International Church in Kilifi County have been dying in their numbers.
According to sources within the DCI who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, Pastor Ezekiel told detectives that people who have ever died in his church were taken there while critically ill.
