Laughable Number Of Votes Andrew Kibe Got When He Vied For Lang’ata MP Seat In 2013

Andrew Kibe couldn’t help but laugh at himself when he narrated his short political journey.

The controversial content creator failed with honors when he contested for Lang’ata MP seat in the 2013 General Election.

In the 2013 election, the former broadcaster ran for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat on the UDF party ticket but was badly beaten.

Speaking in one of his videos, he said he was very ready for the political seat before his dream was destroyed on election day.

Kibe managed to garner 1,400 votes only.

“I was very ready. I got, if I’m not mistaken, maybe 1400. What can you do with 1400 for any currency,” he said.

The entertainer who currently lives in the United States showed some of the campaign posters he used to promote himself a decade ago.

He also showed his UDF nomination certificate which authorized him to contest for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat on the party’s ticket.

“Please, before you speak to me. Put respect on my name. This is the day I was going to collect my certificate from IEBC,” Kibe said about the photo that showed him wearing a suit and a UDF cloth.

About a decade ago, Andrew Kibe wanted to replace Raila Odinga as Member of Parliament for Langa’ta, Nairobi county but lost to Joash Odiambo Olum of the ODM party. Before that, Raila was the Member of Parliament for Lang’ata (at that time including Lang’ata and Kibera) for more than 20 years.

In that election, Olum defeated the former Member of Parliament for the area between 2017-2022, Nixon Korir, by 7,654 votes. Korir contested on the URP ticket and got 17,740 votes while Olum won with 25,394.

After losing in the 2013 election, Andrew Kibe did not try again to compete for the seat which is currently occupied by former broadcaster Phelix Odiwour aka Jalang’o of the ODM party.
