Larry Madowo caused a stir when he was seen participating in some activities interpreted as witchcraft.
Madowo said he was participating in sound therapy in Nepal. He had a metal bowl inserted on his head while some guy hit it gently.
“I tried “sound healing” in Nepal. I left with a headache after my sound healing demo but that’s probably because of banging metal on this damn bald head,” Larry Madowe tweeted on January 8, 2023.
These are Tibetan singing bowls, not regular cooking pots. Their vibrations invoke reflection, meditation and prayer & can also be used to treat various illnesses. They’ve been used by Buddhist monks since ancient times pic.twitter.com/4HBEQeiWH3

In a post on Facebook on January 9, Madowo was quick to clarify that the sound therapy he partook while in Nepal was not witchcraft.
“I tried “sound healing” in Nepal. No, this is not witchcraft,” Madowo wrote.
In another tweet, Madowo said he didn’t see any other black person in Nepal for the time he was there.
“I spent 2 days in Nepal and didn’t see a single Black person. I found Nepalis to be super nice and welcoming. Melanin folks be sleeping on this gem of a country,” Madowo.
His tweet followed another post on social media where he complained about people in India asking to take photos with because of the colour of his skin.
“Random people keep asking me for pictures in New Delhi, and not because they recognize me from TV. It’s because I’m Black/foreign. I don’t get it,” Madowo tweeted.
