The rise of Gengetone group Ethic Entertainment was meteoric, captivating audiences with their infectious beats and unique style. However, their success was shortlived as internal conflicts swiftly led to their breakup.
In a recent interview, Allen Igatanyi, Ethic’s manager, has provided a glimpse into the circumstances surrounding the disbandment, offering a sobering account of the crew’s brief but eventful journey, until they grave silence for a minute now.
Ethic Entertainment comprised four talented male members: Rekless, Swat, Seska, and Zilla.
Igatanyi reveals that the group faced numerous internal issues, citing personal conflicts and a lack of consistent agreements as the primary reason. These challenges ultimately eroded the unity within the crew and set the stage for their eventual demise.
Among the pivotal events was Rekles’ decision to pursue a solo career.
As one of the group’s most beloved members, Rekless had garnered significant popularity and a substantial following.
However, when he decided to go solo, the remaining members found themselves at a crossroads, unable to sustain their collective drive without the group’s core star.
“Swat, the most charismatic member with a considerable fan base, initially took the reigns. Unfortunately, the intoxication of fame led him astray, and other people rose to prominence,” Igatanyi explains.
Ethic Entertainment’s success story revolved around their breakout hit, “Lamba Lolo,” which propelled them into the limelight and introduced Gengetone to a wider audience.
Fame is like fire, it consumes dreams to ashes if one is not careful but can also cook ones dream to something palatable leading to success.
For Ethic, the complexities of fame, combined with individual ambitions and diverging paths, proved unbeatable obstacles for the group, resulting in their untimely separation.
Like the Sailors Gang and other popular groups before them, and those that enjoyed massive airplay from the 2020 Gengetone wave and craze; all that’s left are good old memories.
It’s been a long while since Ethic released a viral hit song like Lamba Lolo.
