TikTok couple Raymax and Maycee Ochieng are among the content creators who are earning millions from their hustles.
Raymax and Maycee shot to fame on TikTok by just recording themselves sleeping on their matrimonial bed.
The couple has amassed thousands of followers and millions of likes from their weird session.
Speaking during an interview with a local news outlet, the couple revealed that they earn up to Ksh50,000 per week from recording themselves sleeping on TikTok.
According to the couple, they struggle to get followers and even earn anything from TikTok when they first ventured into content creation.
The duo’s eureka moment however came three months ago when some of their followers suggested to them the idea of sleeping on live TikTok session.
“Our initial type of content was normal couple stuff – storytelling, singing, joking, etc. One of our fans commented that I talked a lot and suggested that we try sleeping. That’s what we did,” Maycee shared.
“We noticed that there were other couples who were already sleeping. So, we decided to do ours in a different way. We settled on cuddling,” said Raymax.
He adds that sleeping was a less tiring form of content creation as it did not require much energy.
However, Raymax stressed that sleeping during daytime was not as easy as many people might think.
“Some people think that it’s an easy thing, but it’s quite tiring to sleep during the day. Imagine sleeping for over six hours in one position because you have to face the camera. Sometimes I have to go off camera and stretch,” he admitted.
The couple now considers TikTok as their main source of income, as they can comfortably pay their bills with the money they earn from the platform.
They even managed to move from their initial residence in Bombolulu, Kibera, to a two-bedroom apartment.
However, this newfound gig did not come without a price, as Maycee was fired from her workplace for violating the company’s strict social media policy. She now considers herself a full-time TikToker.
Comparing the earnings from TikTok with her previous salary, Maycee says things are better in the online space.
She noted that there was a day they made as much as Ksh10,000 from a single live session on TikTok.
The duo noted that their income could increase as they have also been approached by some companies for brand endorsements.
