As the sun set over the rolling hills of Thindigua, Kiambu County, friends and family gathered to pay their final respects to the late Bishop Allan Kiuna.
Among those who took the podium to share their thoughts on the beloved bishop was his sister-in-law, Jane Kirubi.
Her words were laced with emotion as she recounted her fond memories of Bishop Kiuna’s life and the profound impact he had on those around him.
Jane began by reminiscing about the early days of Kathy and Allan’s relationship.
She recalled how they would often go on lunchtime dates to City Market and how Allan would join them on their fruit salad trips.
“He was always charming, always making us laugh,” she said with a smile.
As their relationship blossomed, Jane noticed how Allan’s presence became an integral part of their daily routine.
But it was during a particularly difficult time that Jane saw the true depth of Allan’s character.
When he was between jobs and Kathy was considering ending the relationship, Jane intervened, persuading her sister not to give up on him.
“He used to borrow my sister’s car and one day my sister called me very distressed, that Allan had been in an accident. I’m like, don’t worry, we will fix the car. But Kathy was like, no, I think I need to cut him loose because it’s been months and the guy doesn’t have a job.
“During that time Allan was in between jobs, basically jobless. That day I was on his side… I convinced her not to dump him. Because she really was going to,” Jane said.
“I knew they had something special. I saw how much he loved her, and I knew she loved him too,” she added.
Jane praised Kathy as a true Proverbs 31 woman – a pillar of strength and virtue. She recounted how Kathy’s love and dedication remained unwavering even in Bishop Kiuna’s final moments.
“She’s an amazing woman,” Jane said, her voice filled with admiration. “When her husband checked out, she didn’t want to let go. She told him no baby don’t go, we have a lot we still have to do. Please hang around.”
As Jane concluded her eulogy, it was clear that Bishop Kiuna had left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
His legacy would live on through the countless lives he touched, including his devoted wife Kathy, who would continue his work and carry on his vision.
