Karen Nyamu has been implored to vie as an independent candidate after Ruto chose Margaret Wanjiru over her in Nairobi senatorial race.
On Saturday April 9th, deputy president William Ruto brokered a deal that saw Kenya Kwanza Alliance settle for Johnson Sakaja as its Nairobi gubernatorial candidate and Margaret Wanjiru as it senatorial aspirant for Nairobi.
The deal brokered by Ruto was witnessed by presence of Party Leaders Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and Justin Muturi (DP) in Karen.
In the new agreement, Margaret Wanjiru deferred her gubernatorial bid and will now run for the Senate seat instead.
Ruto thanked Wanjiru for her magnanimity, sacrifice and grace.
“This win-win spirit will Nairobi regain its glory,” said Ruto.
MPs present during the meeting were Benjamin Gathiru (Embakasi Central), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), George Theuri (Embakasi West), Millicent Omanga (nominated), Nixon Korir (Lang’ata) and John Kiarie (Dagoretti South).
Other leaders present were Governor Josphat Nanok, MPs Alice Wahome (Kandara), Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu), Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi), Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama and more than 30 Nairobi County MCAs.
Karen Nyamu has been campaigning to vie for Nairobi senatorial seat on UDA party ticket, the deal brokered by Ruto robbed her of her political quest.
Nyamu has received overflowing sympathy from Kenyans after she was shortchanged by DP Ruto in the deal he brokered on Saturday.
