Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu is at the center of a legal tussle, with auctioneers poised to access her residence at Runda’s Graceville Villas to recover alleged rent arrears amounting to Ksh1.25 million.
The enforcement, supported by local police, follows a court directive issued by Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate A.H. Nyoike on November 11, 2024.
The order compels Runda Police Commander Rose Ndolo to provide security as auctioneers attach household items to settle the arrears.
Commander Ndolo has since confirmed receiving the directive, emphasizing the need to maintain law and order throughout the process.
However, Senator Nyamu has dismissed the allegations as baseless and malicious, claiming she had entered into a purchase agreement with the landlord, James Gichuru Kirubi.
According to Nyamu, part of her deposit was intended as payment for the property, not rent. She has vowed to contest the court’s decision vigorously.
Court records reveal that this is not the first dispute between Nyamu and her landlord. Documents show that Kirubi had sought an attachment order last year when the alleged arrears stood at Ksh385,000.
Drama unfolded in February 2024 at Runda Graceline Villa as auctioneers, accompanied by police, attempted to evict Karen Nyamu from her residence over the alleged rent dispute.
