Karen Nyamu Condemns Sexual Harassment At Kamba Festival After Attending The Event

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has joined the growing chorus of condemnation over alleged cases of sexual harassment that took place during the Kamba Festival at Carnivore Stadium on September 14, 2024.

Nyamu, one of the attendees of the festival, spoke out after two young women, who had accompanied nominated senator Tabitha Mutinda, filed a formal complaint at Lang’ata Police Station.

The women reported that they were sexually harassed by individuals claiming to be providing security at the event.

One of the victims shared her ordeal with the press, stating, “It was very sad, he (the suspect) was targeting women who had no one to protect them.”

The second victim expressed her deep distress, explaining that she was left traumatized after what was supposed to be a night of enjoyment.

Lang’ata OCPD Wanjiru Kimani confirmed that the police had received the complaints and launched an investigation.

“After giving this report this afternoon, the police have started their investigation,” said Ms. Kimani.

Senator Mutinda, who had been with the victims during the festival, demanded swift action and condemned violence against women.

Senator Nyamu echoed this sentiment, expressing her sorrow over the incidents and thanking her colleague for assisting the victims in coming forward.

“Reports of sexual harassment at Tamasha La Kamba are disturbing and sad. I curse in the strongest terms!” said Karen Nyamu in her statement.

The organizers of Tamasha La Kamba have also weighed in, denouncing the alleged acts of harassment.

Earlier this week, they apologized to the victims and assured the public that they are fully cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
