Ugandan Comedienne Anne Kansiime was previously married Gerald Ojok. The two exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony held in October 2013. Their marriage however didn’t stand the test of time.
The Ugandan comedienne in November 2017 publicly announced that her marriage to Ojok had hit rock bottom.
“OJ and me are not together anymore. Reasons why are not for anyone else to know but the two of us,” Kansiime wrote on social media.
Kansiime revisited her failed marriage in an interview with Uganda blog Bump Love. She said that she was told by her ex husband that marriage was not a comedy like her career.
The mother of one explained that one day she told Ojok that she didn’t see marriage in her future plans and he just brushed it off.
“I don’t see marriage….. I feel like I’m not working towards it. He always knew I was a comedian before anything else… and he told me, not everything in life is comedy,” Kansiime said.
Speaking on her YouTube channel on August 2, 2019, Kansiime revealed that she paid her own dowry to be married to Ojok.
The comedienne explained how she ended up paying her bride price, to make it easy for Mr. Ojok to marry her.
She further disclosed that she held onto the breakup news for a while before announcing it in November 2017.
“Actually, my relationship ended like six months before the whole world knew about it but the pressure kept it going for a while. If you are there and not happy and think you are doing for someone else come here and I’ll congratulate you cause you are wasting your own time,” she said.
Kansiime further indicated that the breakup was caused by the fact that she earned more than Ojok and not because she was unable to have a baby with her ex husband.
“That’s a fact I earn much than him, but I don’t know if that is the reason he left. There could be other reasons that I will not get into,’’ she said.
