Fridah didn’t keep close contact with her family that’s why her body laid at City mortuary marked as unclaimed for a week before her family discovered it.
It was until Thursday, January 26 – exactly eight days since the tragic incident – that the family of the deceased appeared at City mortuary and identified the body.
Fridah drowned together with Kiambu businessman Tirus Maina whose body was immediately identified.
Witnesses said the two were merry making inside the car parked by the edge of the dam when it slipped into the water.
Fridah’s body was discovered in the dam while that of Tirus Maina was trapped inside the car.
Tirus, a married man, was the managing partner of a Kenyan company called Hardrock Engineering that deals in ballast.
Speaking to the media, Fridah’s friend shared details of her mysterious life, revealing that she was in a secret relationship with Tirus for four months.
The friends said Fridah lived in a rented house in Makongeni estate, which Tirus Maina paid.
The two reportedly met during one of Fridah’s entertainment gigs in Thika town whereby they struck a close relationship and continued to see each other for the past four months.
Fridah graduated in November 2022 with a diploma in hospitality. A close friend revealed that Fridah had intended to leave the country for greener pastures.
The friend added that Fridah rarely kept a close relationship with her family. Kiambu County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Richard Mwaura affirmed that the parents were unaware of their daughter’s whereabouts as she rarely called home.
Detectives had to travel to her home to inform the family of her death.
“We had to process her fingerprints because no one had come out to claim her,” the detective said.
Fridah was buried at her parents’ home Murang’a county on Wednesday January 1, 2023.
She received glowing tributes from her family members and her childhood friends.
In another tribute, Fridah’s childhood friend disclosed that she once had aspirations of becoming a preacher.
“I remember her as my classmate who, while in class seven at Kagwanja primary school, told me she aspired to one day become an international televangelist,” said Alice Njoki.
