Jackie Maribe’s ex-boyfriend Jowie Irungu has revealed that he doesn’t know the late businesswoman Monica Kimani, who was brutally murdered back in 2018 and her body stashed in a bathtub.
During the murder trial on Thursday, Irungu told the court that he only knew Monica’s brother who was his school mate. He added that he learn of her death through TV
According to him, he has never met Monica or even communicate with her through phone
“I really don’t know Monica, but I know the brother George. We schooled with him in 2012. We never met after that because I travelled outside the country then we later caught up on Instagram, but we were to meet at a place I used to go. I have never interacted with her, I didn’t even have her number,” he said.
Jowie also explained to the court about how he sustained a gunshot injury on the day that Kimani was murdered. He claimed his gun went off accidentally after an argument between him and Maribe.
The two engaged in a heated after he came across a suspicious message on Maribe’s phone.
“We had an argument again about a message I saw on her phone and we threw words at each other. I got tired and I was throwing my clothes outside, I wanted to leave the house because the same message was repetitive and I was intoxicated and angry I didn’t want to listen to her at all, whatever I had seen. So when I was moving my clothes the gun went out and hit me on the chest so I went to my neighbor Brian,” Jowie further told the court.
