Jomo Gecaga Denies Being In 5-Year Relationship With Anne Kiguta As Court Begins Hearing Child Upkeep Case

Former Citizen TV anchor Anne Kiguta demands Ksh2.7 million monthly upkeep from Jomo Gecaga.

The court on Monday began hearing the suit filed by Kiguta against her baby daddy Gecaga.

In his mitigation, Gecaga through his lawyer told the court that he has been diligently taking care of his twins with Kiguta even though he claimed the journalist got pregnant for him without his consent.

He further denied that he was in a 5-year relationship with the former news anchor as she claimed in her suit, revealing that he had not been intimate with Kiguta since the twins were born.

“The conception of the children was unplanned for and a surprise to me. I accepted the paternity of my twins and have since been providing for them. I have never been intimate with Ms. Kiguta since the twins were born,” Gecaga said.

He added that being a successful media journalist, Kiguta is also in a position to (halfway) take care of the minors.

Gecaga further faulted Kiguta for associating him with ‘easily available money’ because he has roots in the wealthy Kenyatta family.

“She has made extremely unreasonable and unrealistic demands, to fund an untenable lifestyle,” argues Gecaga.

In an affidavit, Gecaga said he will continue providing for the minors within his means but the amounts demanded by Kiguta were outrageous, adding that he has three other children he is taking care of equally.

Kiguta accusesd Jomo Gecaga of failing to fulfil his parental responsibilities to their two biological children and another child he didn’t sire with her.

In her suit, the media personality demands that Ksh2.7 million upkeep money should be deposited into her account by the 5th day of every month, beginning June 2023.

“The money will be used for feeding the three children, monthly shopping, house rent, entertainment, utility bills and salaries for the house nanny, housekeeper, chef, driver and security guards,” court papers say.

Alternatively, Kiguta is demanding for a lumpsum payment of Ksh413 million as maintenance costs for expenditures for the three children until they turn 18.

She claims her baby daddy, who is retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew and also served as his personal assistant, is rich and well capable of meeting her demands.
