Jalang’o while quitting his work at Kiss FM narrated how his decision to join politics caused friction between him and his wife Amina Chao.
The former Kiss FM presenter officially quit his job in line with media council rules that require journalists vying for political seats to resign six months to the election date.
Speaking after resigning from his job, Jalang’o narrated how his decision to join politics has been met by opposition from his wife Amina Chao and even his friends in the corporate world.
“Some people have encouraged me while others don’t. My wife did not want to hear anything about politics. People who I have worked with in the corporate world don’t want me to join politics. They don’t even want to hear about it. They are asking why yet we are doing well. But the thing is, if you have a dream, why not?” Jalang’o said.
Jalang’o further lamented that political campaigns are so expensive. He explains that he always gives handouts as appreciation to people who listen to him.
“Every meeting you go and speak to people and tell them what you can do for them, people are hungry out here. The first thing will be, ‘Mhesh, unatuacha aje? Give us something. That’s not bribing but is a form of appreciation after spending time with them. Some closed their jobs just to come and be with you,” said Jalang’o.
“Marketing and billboards are expensive, merchandise is expensive,” he added.
